5 Reasons Why We Love Wellness (And You Should, Too!)

5-reasons-we-love-wellness Nov10th 2020

Taking care of your body doesn’t have to be hard.

The Oxford dictionary defines wellness as “the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal.” Here at NY Physical Therapy & Wellness, we love health, wellness, and taking care of ourselves for many reasons, and we want to share a few with you!

If you’re interested in learning more about wellness and how you can improve your overall lifestyle, contact our clinic today to learn more. Our physical therapists are skilled, educated movement specialists who understand the importance of taking care of your body and staying in shape.

They’ll be happy to help you learn more about the best ways for you to stay active, eat healthy, and take care of yourself.

Be healthy, be happy!

Our clinic puts wellness at the top of our priority list because we love seeing happy patients! Have you ever woken up feeling awful and then your entire day just goes downhill from there? When you mistreat your body by not paying attention to your wellness, your mood will be negatively affected.

Healthy people are happier, more productive, and tend to experience a higher quality of life overall than those who don’t pay much attention to their wellbeing. The Positive Psychology Center states that “striving for well-being will allow you to perform better at work, have better relationships, a stronger immune system, fewer sleep problems, lower levels of burnout, [and] better physical health.”

You will experience the positives in every corner of your life if you give your body the attention it deserves through good nutrition and exercise!

Taking care of your body means you’ll have a longer lifespan.

This is truly a no-brainer, but it’s one of our most important reasons for loving wellness as much as we do. The better care you take of your body, the more it will give you in return.

Think of all the things in life that you are looking forward to, or love doing. Do you want your health to get in the way of those? Of course not! You want to keep playing the sports you love to play. You want to keep running errands and getting out of the house regularly without having to come home early because of aches and pains. You want to be able to watch your children and your grandchildren grow up.

You can do all of these things and more for much longer if you stay in shape by keeping your body healthy and strong!

You’ll have more confidence.

People who take care of themselves tend to appreciate their appearance more than those who don’t. Putting your health and wellness first will most likely result in you enjoying what you see in the mirror, and putting yourself “out there” more in social settings.

Having more confidence in yourself can open tons of doors and opportunities in life, and it can also inspire those around you to start taking an active interest in their health as well, which brings us to our next point…

You could inspire others to improve their health!

You might notice your friends and family start asking you for advice on health, nutrition, or what you’re doing to stay active. They might even ask to join your journey! Taking care of yourself in a healthy way can encourage those around you to do the same.

One thing we love hearing in our clinic is our patients telling us that they’ve had close friends ask them what they’ve been doing to take such good care of themselves. When they include us in their answer, it’s the best compliment ever! Knowing that your actions have positively affected someone you care about is also a really good feeling!

You’ll get sick less often

UC Davis’ website states “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.” We agree! Nothing is worse than getting sick constantly from poor health.

When you dedicate time to learning more about eating the right foods, getting your vitamins and minerals, and getting more exercise, you’ll notice that you have to call out sick from work far less often, or flake on plans with friends and family!
